About The Recipe

With the colder winter days settling in here in Texas and all the major football games getting ready to kick off, we thought there was no better time to share this super simple Pull Apart Pizza Bread! Of course, it HAD to be pepperoni because…who doesn’t love a good pepperoni pizza? It’s definitely one of our favorites!

There’s just something to delicious within its simplicity. Though, that might also be because, as kids, pepperoni was one of our favorites! Nostalgia and something new tied all together in one seriously delicious dish.

If you haven’t had or made a pull-apart bread, don’t worry! We hadn’t really either. Of course, cinnamon rolls and things like that all technically count as tear-and-shares, but a genuine sliced pull-apart bread has been on our baking bucket list forever!

And, since it’s the new year, we figured it would be fun to try new things. Well, new things with one of our favorite dinners (Seriously. We have pizza for dinner at LEAST once a week).

This pizza bread was actually a huge success on our first try! We used a half of a recipe from our Simple and Easy Pizza Dough for the crust, our Homemade Tomato Pesto for the sauce, and just enough parmesan and mozzarella to make it cheesy…Oh, and BIG slices of pepperoni, too!

It was the perfect amount for the three of us, but it also makes for a great appetizer or just snack to enjoy while watching anything!

Place pieces carefully into lined loaf pan, being sure to stand them slightly on a tilt. You will need to hold the toppings on as you move the pieces and you may need to push the pieces back as you add more into the pan to ensure al 15 pieces of dough fit. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until done.

How To Store

Once this bread has baked and cooled, you can store it in a zip top bag and keep it in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. You can also wrap it in foil or place it in a freezer safe zip top bag and freeze for up to a month! To thaw, set out of the freezer for 1-2 hours and allow to come to room temperature before heating in a 350 degree F oven.

To reheat it from the fridge, you can also place it in the oven as a whole or quickly reheat a few slices in the microwave!

Substitutions

  • To make this recipe vegan, omit the pepperoni (or use vegan pepperoni!) and use your favorite vegan cheeses.
  • We used a full fat mozzarella cheese, but you can use skim or pre-grated mozzarella.
  • You can really add anything you like to this bread. Just make sure to not add too much, as it will not bake properly with too many fillings/toppings.
  • You can use store-bought pesto and store-bought pizza dough.
