Caelid is known as one of the hardest areas in Elden Ring. A lot of good loot can be acquired in Caelid that can increase your damage and survival skills before you continue with the main story. That's why people look for ways to get in and out quickly.

Fort Faroth is a small building north-east Caelid that has worthwhile loot. The best loot you can get from this fort requires you to survive poisonous bats and gigantic rats. This guide will go into detail about where all the good loot in Fort Faroth is and how to survive it.

How To Get To Fort Faroth

Elden Ring: Fort Faroth Guide (2)

There are different ways to first enter Caelid. All of them are pretty dangerous. If you have yet to have explored Caelid, there are three options for getting in quickly. You can either defeat an intruder, teleport to a random location, or teleport into a deadly cave and run out with your life.

Fort Faroth has a Site of Grace titled the same thing, just outside the walls. The best way to reach Fort Faroth is to teleport to the Bestial Sanctum. You can find a teleporter to this location in the bushes north of the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace.

From the Bestial Sanctum, you will just have to follow the natural path in front of the sanctum. Run past all the enemies and go beyond the large bridge with the dragon on it. The second left on this path will lead to Fort Faroth.

Fort Faroth is in the middle of Greyoll's Dragonbarrow. Tons of smaller dragons sleep here with one gigantic, white dragon sleeping in the center. People kill this white dragon as a way to level up faster at the beginning of the game.

How To Kill The Bats In Fort Faroth

Elden Ring: Fort Faroth Guide (3)

Make sure you have a lanternequipped. Spirit Summons can also be used in Fort Faroth.

Ranged attacks work best here because all of the enemies are bats. You don't have to main ranged damage, simply using anything to lure the enemies out will suffice.

  • As soon as you enter, one bat will aggro quickly. You should make sure to back out of the building to allow yourself more space and visibility when fighting him.
  • Around six bats and a mother will be waiting in the next room. Use ranged attacks to kill them without aggroing them or to lure them out. Avoid fighting multiple at once.

Though these enemies have wings, you can sprint to the ladder at the other end of the room and climb up without them following you.

These enemies are hard to deal with because they spew out poisonous gas. Poison build-up causes you to lose health over time. You can either spam health potions against the debuff or craft Neutralizing Boluses.

As a mage, spells like Glint Pebble are perfect for killing the bats from afar before they can even register your presence.

What To Do On The Roof Of Fort Faroth

Elden Ring: Fort Faroth Guide (5)

Once you defeat all the bats, you can climb up the ladder at the far end of the fort. There will be a chest at the top of the ladder containing the right piece of the Dectus Medallion. Both pieces of the Dectus Medallion are needed to use the Grand Lift in Altus Plateau.

This isn't the end of the fort, though. Turn to the right, and you will be able to safely jump down onto the roof of the fort. On the roof of Fort Faroth, there will be around six ghosts hiding.

There are two ghosts on each side and two in the middle. These ghosts spawn only once you go near their location, so you won't get overwhelmed by them unless you run around and trigger all of them.

There is nothing on the roof. Your next step is to use the ladder near the middle, leading downward.

How To Get Past The Rats In Fort Faroth

Elden Ring: Fort Faroth Guide (6)

Once you descend the ladder, there is only one way to go. There will be a small rat that will jump out from the crates to the left, just before the item. The item at the end of this hall is Golden Rune [12].

There is a greater prize than just a couple enemies and a golden rune.

  • From the golden rune, you should see an area to jump diagonally to, on your right.

After jumping to the other side, don't make any moves until you are prepared. There is a ginormous rat and a smaller rat around the corner. This is a very small area to be fighting a large rat, so keep your shield or dodging skills at the ready.

  • Behind the large rat is another ladder leading back down. This leads to a small room containing Radagon's Soreseal, hidden around the corner.
