Brian Galinat, M.D., is chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.Dr. Galinat did his orthopaedic residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and completed a shoulder/sports-medicine fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery. He has been in practice in Delaware since 1989.Dr. Galinat was team doctor for the Wilmington Blue Rocks from 1993 to 2006 and a team doctor for U.S. Soccer from 1991 to 2005.He became chief of the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery at Christiana Care in 2004 and helped establish the independent Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2010.He is in his last year of a six-year term as the Board of Councilors representative to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He serves on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Coding, Coverage and Reimbursem*nt Committee.He is an elected member of the American Orthopaedic Association, which was founded in 1887 and is the oldest orthopaedic association in the world. "Surgery of any kind is an anxiety producing event. As a patient we try to do our research, talk to friends and associates. I did the same and had the good fortune to see Dr. Galinat. Surgery should be done by those who truly grasp what it is and how it should be done. From the very fist smile you receive at check in to making that next appointment you know this is a professional, caring, and competent practice.When I decided to have my surgery, I was welcomed as though I was “one of his”. My recovery has been unbelievably beyond my expectations. Pain management is the newest processes available. After surgery exercises just make so much sense. I am my best new me thanks to Dr. Galinat. I know I will need to have my other replaced at some time(arthritis) and know that I am in his incredibly talented hands."
